Having over 8 years experience in the automotive industry, during my studies, my attention was drawn by the recommendations of the Latham and Egan reports. These emphasise the need for the construction industry to copy and apply the automotive / manufacturing ways.

As a result, I decided to carry out my MSc dissertation looking at the possible performance improvement in the construction industry, by applying the Egan and Latham recommendations, the current best practice in the construction industry and to constrast them with the automotive/manufacturing best practice.

It should take you less than 5 minutes to complete this questionnaire.

Thank you in advance for your valuable input on my project

Welcome to the Forum Wilfred.  Certainly an interesting, and hot, topic.  Are you aware that Laing O'Rourke have just opened a new off-site manufacturing plant based on the knowledge gained from frequent visits to Japan over the last few years?  I have seem a few pictures and it looks very clean and efficient - especially when compared to a muddy construction site!

Cheers

Hello Newsh

Apart from the questionnaire, I am going to carry out interviews and I heard about Laing O'Rourke. I really wish i could interview them about this topic, from what i heard they have  a very interesting philosophy of work.

If by any chance you have any contacts which could help with this interview, it would be a great help.

I also checked your website, and if you had time for an interview (I am based in Birmingham), I think you could bring a very interesting point of view that would greatly improve my report Smiley.

anyway thank you for the information

all the best
